What is Organizational Development
Organization development is the study of successful organizational change and performance. OD emerged from human relations studies in the 1930s, during which psychologists realized that organizational structures and processes influence worker behavior and motivation.
It includes organizational climate (attitudes and beliefs of the collective members), organizational culture (norms, values and behaviours that members share) and organizational strategies (identifying problems, action plans, implements change).

Why is it important for my organization?
It plays an important role in improving efficiency and expanding your firm productivity. It can be used to solve problems within the organization or as a way to analyze a process and find a more efficient way of doing it. Implementing organizational development requires an investment of time and money. But when you understand its importance, you can justify the costs. The objective of OD is to improve the organization’s capacity to handle its internal and external functioning and relationships. This includes improved interpersonal and group processes, more effective communication, and enhanced ability to cope with organizational problems of all kinds. It also involves more effective decision processes, more appropriate leadership styles, improved skill in dealing with destructive conflict, as well as developing improved levels of trust and cooperation among organizational members.
What are the cornerstones of organizational development?
Change – wherein the actual process identifies areas of the firm where operations are in need of change.
